Crew 502

In the summer of 2011, 75 scouts and volunteers came together for ArrowCorps502, a major conservation service project in and around Mt. Rainier National Park. Members of the Order of the Arrow involved in the project wished to continue the legacy they they began that summer on the trail, and Crew 502 was born!

By combining the program vector provided by Venturing and the Order's principles of Brotherhood, Cheerfulness and Service, Crew 502's mission is to give back to the public lands we all enjoy by fostering the ethic of conservation service. It teaches its members trail skills, construction techniques, and tool safety. It empahsizes environmental stewardship, promotes Leave No Trace, and advocates for responsible outdoor adventure. By pushing the boundries of what both organizations can offer, Crew 502 is seeks to bring its message of service to a wider audience.

Throughout the year, Crew 502 runs a variety of conservation-themed trainings and events, often in conjunction with other programs offered through the Order of the Arrow and Venturing, and culminates in a weeklong conservation school during the summer. These events will help prepare for the next ArrowCorps in 2014, as well as empower youth to be proactive and conservation-minded members of their local communities.
